Founded in 1918 as manufacturer of machine tools, air compressors, liquid pumps and as vehicle motor repairs, OMD started building compressors and systems for refrigeration in 1932. This became soon the company’s core business. In 1952 the Company started to produce semi-hermetic compressors based on the genius, mechanical intuition and great entrepreneurial ability of the founder, Mario Dorin. This solid base coupled with seriousness, commitment and know-how of his sons and nephews allowed the OMD to grow and become a reference in the market.
In 1970 the factory moved from the previous facilities to a larger area in order to welcome the fast growing production. Between 1983 and 1998 OMD has enlarged its offer to the market adding the 6-816 cylinders compressors with up to 150 Hp and a displacement of up to 400 m3/h. From 1999 started the real innovation of OMD developing new technologies like the CO2 compressors and the use of electronic frequency control devices. The new H Series came into ground. From 2004 OMD is the reference leading manufacturer of CO2 compressors for transcritical application recognised all around the world in commercial and academical fields and soon became a reference for subcritical use too. Together with HI Series compressors, specifically designed for electronic frequency control, took place in those markets interested in a deep policy of energy saving. From 2008 is going on the completion of the H Series with the release of H4, H5, H6 and H7 compressors. Giving a total and comprehensive advantage to end users adopting Dorin production against their competitors.
Founded more than 90 years ago, grown and developed during the last 50 years always in the hands of the same family, OMD is today ready to face the third millennium knowing that all the mechanism are in place to continue to be pointed as reference in the international markets.
Dorin is one of the oldest companies in the world producing compressors and in 2018 it was included in the Italian Association of Historic Companies.
Currently, Dorin is one of the oldest and leading manufacturers of compressors and refrigeration units, awarded many times for innovation and care for the environment. The exclusive distributor of the Dorin brand in Poland is Technika Chłoczenia based in Zabrze, operating since 2001. From the beginning of its activity, the company focused on supplying service companies with the highest quality components for refrigeration and air conditioning.
